Rheumatology Unit; Department of Internal Medicine, Hospital Juan Canalejo, A Coruña, Spain A patient with biopsy-diagnosed polyarteritis nodosa showed central nervous system (CNS) involvement and evidence of intrathecal synthesis of immunoglobulins, coincident with very high serum levels of anticardiolipin antibodies (aCL). Cerebral angiography was normal. We suggest that aCL could be directly implicated in the CNS damage.
